For growing communities, Parks & Recreation development is an integral part of Economic Development. Numerous studies have pointed out that recreational opportunity, green space, programs, etc. are very important in where large and small businesses choose to locate: Do you believe this is important? Do you believe North Vernon and Jennings County have done well in this area? What recreational issues (need for programs, new parks, maintenance, funding, etc.) are most important to you? Do we need new parks? If so: Should they be smaller parks with more distribution? Should they be medium to large park s? Do we need both types?
Athletic complexes are often created in communities to provide high intensity league sport recreational space. North Vernon purchased property for this type of facility, yet decided not to develop it. Do we need this type of facility? If so, do you think this is the responsibility of the city, the county, or both working together? Do we as a community provide enough recreational space for leagues and for practices?
Jennings County Parks and Recreation (JCPR) just acquired the Eco Lake Park from the Cosco Recreation Committee. What would you like to see this property used for? Vandalism is an ongoing problem for both city and county recreational departments. In your opinion what if, anything, should be done to solve these problems?
